Chair

David Parker

I am 24 years old, and I have grown up in Utah for the majority of my life, and it is the only place I consider home. I moved to and graduated from the University of South Florida with a Bachelor's in Accounting. However, I've always had a strong interest in politics since I was in high school where I turned in a report on Tinker vs. Des Moines and gave a presentation on it. Since then, I have been very adamant about protecting the rights of students, specifically, regarding the right to free speech. I care very deeply about the core values of America. I view the 2024 election as not just an attack on freedom of speech, information, and knowledge, but an attack against the core values of America and what it exists for. I care very much about the state of education in the United States, but fear that the current administration is doing things, and will continue to do things, to hide or normalize their crimes. I believe that it is a critical time to give our children the tools to remain educated, to not look past the actions of the current administration, and to view all, past, present, and future administrations, with the same critical lens.

Jade Velazquez

Salt Lake County is the beating heart of Utah’s Democratic movement, and I am honored to serve as your Chair, leading the charge for progressive values, inclusive leadership, and a stronger, more united party. Over the past two years, we’ve built a more engaged and effective Democratic Party—one that fights for working families, protects fundamental rights, and elects Democrats up and down the ballot. Our team has expanded grassroots organizing, registered new voters, and trained more than 1,000 enthusiastic volunteers. We’ve helped elect and re-elect 60 Democratic leaders, proving Salt Lake County is a thriving Democratic stronghold. By investing in future leaders, we’re building a lasting pipeline of candidates, campaign staff, and community advocates. Over the last two years, we have marched in dozens of parades, tabled at more than 30 community festivals, and promoted over 300 candidate events.

I am running for re-election because our work is far from over. We have the chance to flip key seats and show Utah what Democratic leadership can do. That means strengthening grassroots activism, supporting Democratic candidates who reflect our values, and expanding outreach to underrepresented communities. Salt Lake County Democrats are more fired up than ever. I ask for your support and your vote to keep our momentum going and our party moving forward.

First Vice Chair

David Carlson

I would like to offer my services to serve, if elected, as vice chair of the Democratic Party. I served for 30 years as an Assistant Attorney General at the Office of the Utah Attorney General until I was involved in a serious automobile accident and had to retire in 2019. I sought the party's nomination as a candidate for the office of Utah Attorney General this year but did not receive the nomination. I am a lifelong Democrat; my father, Wayne Carlson, was the party chair, my grandfather, Elof Carlson, was a union organizer and lifelong Democrat.

Amber Hendrix

Hello and welcome!

I’m Amber Hendrix, your current 1st Vice Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party for the last two years.

I am honored and grateful to run for reelection.

I believe in the power of coming together to create something more significant than the sum of our parts, and I have witnessed this firsthand within this great country.

When we foster a culture of belonging, ensuring that progressive and modern values continue to shape our communities and where every voice, culture, age demographic, and perspective is heard and valued—we unlock the true potential of a grassroots movement.

When we unite, we create a brighter future for everyone.

Thank you for being part of this journey.

Let’s keep building—together!

Michele Rivera

I am tirelessly working towards better government with my community and political engagements. I am on the Board of Planned Parenthood Associated of Utah, where I am currently the co-chair of the Endorsements Committee. I have been the Vice-Chair of the SLCounty Dems Black Caucus since 2020, where I have supported Black candidates in all forms of political races. In 2023, became a non-partisan Elected Official for the Mount Olympus Improvement District, which encompasses Millcreek, Holladay, South Salt Lake, and a bit of a Murray. I was able to win 65% of the vote. In 2024 I was the Chair of Caucus Chairs for the County Party and the Second Vice Chair for the County Party.

For my day job, I am a Data Engineer and Analyst , where I have more than 10 years of experience in revenue, accounting, and cash collections analytics.

I want to help the party with knowledge and skills that I have, to gain and retain important seats for the party. There is nothing more important for me, than to be a vehicle for supporting, and expanding the Democratic Party, and particularly the Salt Lake County Democratic Party.

Second Vice Chair

Jesús Jimenez-Vivanco

I’m Jesús Jimenez-Vivanco, and I’m running for 2nd Vice Chair of the Salt Lake County Democratic Party.

Right now more than ever, it’s important to build community and have each other’s backs. One of the ways Democrats reach into existing communities is through our interest and identity caucuses. Each caucus is fairly independent. I want each caucus to reach their own goals in their own ways on issues they deeply care about. New caucus leadership? We can train you.
Established team needs support? I will be your greatest advocate.
I come from a working class background. I understand how people have to juggle life in order to make time for community and political work. This is why I will be as flexible as possible to help you how, when, and where you need support. I want to see caucuses working together as well. We can learn from one another. Our community-based work will lay the foundation for our candidates’ success, and I will be there with you.

Our ties with one another, our community, is our greatest strength. I would like to help you bring your community’s strengths into the Democratic Party. Vote Jesús for 2nd Vice Chair. Thank you.

Secretary

Jared Eborn

My goal is to increase awareness and communication of issues, laws and initiatives impacting residents and community members of Salt Lake County and the rest of the state.

I have been a resident of Murray (HD 35) for the past 20 years and raised four children.

As a professional communicator with 15-plus years experience in journalism as a reporter and editor, 10-plus years experience in event management and marketing, and a life of advocating and working for people less privileged than myself.

I believe Salt Lake County and Utah need more active and responsive communication to stimulate growth and participation in the Democratic Party in order to swing elections and kill the GOP super majority that exists in the Utah State Legislature.

The time has come to end the tyranny of the Utah GOP.
