Call to Action: Stop HB 267

Writer's picture: SLCounty DemsSLCounty Dems

As I am sure you know, the 2025 Utah Legislative Session has started, and we have sworn in five new Democratic State Reps into their new positions. We have our first call to action for this session. Not even a full two days into the session, and the Republicans on the hill are already finding ways to attack public education and labor organizations.

HB 267 Public Sector Labor Union Amendments is an anti-labor and anti-public employee bill preventing public employees from collectively bargaining through a union. Designed seemingly to target the Utah Education Association, this bill would severely hamper their ability to represent and advocate for public school teachers.

Here is how you can take action:

2. Call and Email your Representative

Contact your Representative now and ask them to vote 'No.' To find out who your representative is, visit https://le.utah.gov/GIS/findDistrict.jsp. Then, call or email them to voice your support for public employee unions.

3. Show Up to the Committee Meeting

HB 267 is being heard tomorrow at 2:00 PM in the House Business, Labor, and Commerce Committee in Capitol Room 445. Show up and speak against HB 267 in person or virtually before the committee.

Thank you to everyone who signs the petition or speaks up to support our public employees. Throughout the session, we will send regular Call to Action emails like this one, so follow along to stay updated on how you can make a difference.
