Unfortunately, we think of negative terms when we hear the word “politics:” dysfunction, polarization, unproductiveness, and more. Our politics are often not focused on bettering the lives of Utahns but rather catering to political point-scoring.
However, there are public servants who give hope that negative politics can be turned around. No individual does so more than Representative Andrew Stoddard.
For the past six years, Representative Stoddard has served the legislature with honesty, dignity, and a genuine desire to listen to the constituents of House District 40. While many in our legislature have been focused on targeting vulnerable Utahns and fueling culture wars—like H.B. 261, which eliminated DEI in higher education—Representative Stoddard has been delivering real results for all Utahns.
Just in the 2024 legislative session, Representative Stoddard sponsored 19 bills that were passed, with the majority of these pieces of legislation being co-sponsored by his Republican colleagues. Instead of following the partisan polarization that we often see from our legislature’s supermajority, Representative Stoddard actually focuses on and succeeds in finding solutions to the problems that matter to Utahns: public safety, criminal justice, labor, air quality, and so much more.
Throughout his campaign, Representative Stoddard has actively highlighted and supported fellow candidates running this year, engaging with voters through door-knocking, texting, and other outreach efforts. These candidates share his commitment to productive, results-driven legislation across all offices in Utah. These candidates include Senator Kathleen Riebe for Senate District 15, John Arthur for State School Board District 7, Travis Smith for House District 42, and Zach Robinson for County Council At-Large District 6. By supporting candidates like these, we can ensure Representative Stoddard is not alone in his fight to be a productive public servant for Utah’s unproductive politics statewide.
With Representative Stoddard in the legislature, we know someone who represents our community and prioritizes their constituents. That is why it is important to reelect and vote down the ballot this election cycle and encouraging others to do so.
